I sometimes do a Google search on this blog's name to see what new results come up. I wasn't expecting to find a biker guy in Sapulpa, Oklahoma using my site name "T Town Tommy" for his myspace page. So let me go on the record, if you do a myspace or google search and find some myspace page for a biker that wants to join the Bandidos bike gang, that is not me! Straight from the files of T Town Tommy's Strange But True, you can now turn your dearly departed into some bling. A US company called LifeGem is using modern technology to turn your departed's ashes into a man made diamond.

Oh but the fun doesn't stop there LifeGem is also offering to turn your pets ashes into a diamond and even celebrity diamonds. The company claims to have turned hair from Ludwig van Beethoven into three diamonds. The Beethoven diamonds where sold on e-Bay for over $200,000.00.

I Nominate Boy George for the Freak of the Year Award

This has got to rank up as one of the most bizarre celebrity stories of 2007. Boy George who has been out there in way left field since the 80's is getting old and sad; however this is just weird.

(London) A British judge has ruled there is sufficient evidence against openly gay performer Boy George for a trial on charges of falsely imprisoning a 28-year-old man. The trial against the 47-year old singer and DJ, whose real name is George O'Dowd, will begin February 25. The charge stems from an incident last April where a male escort claimed to have been chained to a wall in George's London apartment.

Auden Carlsen, 28, claims to have met the singer on a popular British gay dating site. He said that he agreed to go to George's apartment to pose for photographs for a fee of about $750 and on the stipulation there would be no sex. But after he arrived at the apartment Carlsen claims to have been attacked by George and another man. "I was convinced I was going to die," he told the tabloid The Mirror in April.

"George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down." Carlsen said he managed to get the hook out of the wall and escape in only his underwear.  He called police from a local news vendor's stand.

Brain Eating Bugs in US Lakes

Oh yeah let's build lakes in the middle of the overly polluted shit smelling Arkansas River, brilliant idea! Anyone care for a swim?

PHOENIX - It sounds like science fiction but it's true: A killer amoeba living in lakes enters the body through the nose and attacks the brain where it feeds until you die.

Even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare, it's killed six boys and young men this year. The spike in cases has health officials concerned, and they are predicting more cases in the future.

"This is definitely something we need to track," said Michael Beach, a specialist in recreational waterborne illnesses for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"This is a heat-loving amoeba. As water temperatures go up, it does better," Beach said. "In future decades, as temperatures rise, we'd expect to see more cases."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the man who is best known for instituting pink underwear, chain gangs and tent cities in Arizona’s correctional facilities, is getting creative again. Last month Sheriff Arpaio started a competition in his infamous county jail based on American Idol for the inmates. When pop culture and prisons collide we get “Inmate Idol”.

More than 100 inmates initially signed up to test their singing talents after Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced the contest last month. Inmate voting pared the field to 15 and last week to the final six.

On Friday, the finalists performed in front of about 1,700 inmates and three judges: Arpaio, Cooper and an Elvis impersonator played by detention Officer Bret Kaiser.

"I have a tough reputation. We took everything away from these people," Arpaio said. "But we do try to teach our inmates. This is just another (way of) building up self-esteem."

But because inmate voting narrowed the field, the competition did even more, uniting men and women who didn't usually associate with each other in their housing units.

The prize - Big Macs, pizza, milkshakes and cake - was for everyone living in the winner's pod, so inmates had to work together to generate enough votes for the right person.

Clowns Slain During Circus Show

The latest installment of Strange but True comes to us from Bogotá, Colombia. During Mondays performance of Circo Del Sol de Cali an unidentified gunman walked out of the audience and shot to death two circus performers dressed as clowns. Personally I am not that fond of clowns but damn! Who shoots a clown?

Seattle Residents Traumatized Over Falling Bodies

In the last decade due to city growth and more urban worker conversions into former docks areas of Seattle; The Aurora Bridge near downtown has become a magnet for suicide jumpers. According to SeattlePI.com “Thirty-eight people have jumped to their deaths during the past decade. It averages three or four jumpers a year, although eight people leaped in 2006.” A city bus was also driven off the bridge in 1998 when a man shot the driver. Neither the driver nor shooter survived the impact with thirty two passengers injured. To date 230 jumpers have been accounted for; one occurring in 1932 before the massive structure was even completed.

Seattle residents working in office spaces and living below the George Washington Memorial Bridge or (Aurora Bridge) are feeling traumatized and fatigued over suicide jumpers plunging to their demise. The bridge now designated State Route 99 has a required span over water at 155 feet and 350 feet at its highest point over ground. It has been nicknamed “The Suicide Bridge” by locals.

Disgruntled citizens are demanding solutions to the growing rate of suicides on a major state bridge carrying over 100,000 vehicles a day. The Department of Transportation has been recently forced to posted suicide prevention signs along the bridge with a local hotline. Some of the jumpers miss the water ending up hitting ground, structures and in one recent case a drivers’ car hood.

The Local Update

I hope every one had a better Friday then I have had! My shop has been a pressure cooker all day with both my partner and I snipping at each other trying to get a wedding and our everyday orders out. I think the 110 degree heat index and typical stress is grinding on us. Thank God I could get out some and run some deliveries myself and jam out for a bit before I said something I will later regret.

I feel like what I need is some good comedy and see what other people around Oklahoma are doing that makes my life seem a lot better. After looking around my blog since I started back up I noticed a category missing from my original blog called Strange but True!

 

“The Local Update”

BETHANY, Ok. - It all started about 10:00 am, Saturday, July 9, 2005 when Bethany, OK police responded to a call regarding an auto burglary in progress.  When police examined the car they found a man lying in the car's trunk, underneath newspapers and a large plastic sheet.  The man was stuck in the trunk.  He allegedly told the officers he was only looking for a place to sleep.

When the officers pulled the man from the trunk of the car they discovered that he was wearing a pink robe, mesh pantyhose, women's underwear and his genitals were exposed.  While attempting to handcuff the man the officers discovered he was already wearing handcuffs which belonged to none of the police officers on the scene.
